'Tis the season for "best of" lists, so we're getting in on the fun with a look back at some of the top tools, initiatives and updates launched this past year at RBC Direct Investing to help clients make their best investing decisions.

From the launch of an all-new Trading Dashboard, to RRIF management updates and mobile upgrades, it's been an exciting year. Plus, in a year where online interactions became the norm for many of us, we prioritized accessibility for all clients by enabling our platform to be fully compatible with screen readers and other assisted devices.

Here are five of our favourite initiatives over the past year – inspired by you sharing with us what's most important to you.

1. New Trading Dashboard Rolls Out

The all-new Trading Dashboard1 is up and running, offering you access to real-time streaming data, advanced charting, analyst reports and more – all in one place. Plus, you get a fully customizable view of market data, making it easier to spot trading opportunities, monitor holdings and enter your orders. The Dashboard is web-based, so there's no need to download anything, and it's free for all clients!

2. DIY RRIF Management Added

For those of you with a Registered Retirement Income Fund (RRIF) at RBC Direct Investing, it's now easier to view and manage your own account online. In addition to being able to view your minimum annual withdrawal requirement online, you can now also modify and manage your scheduled payments online. Find out more in How to View Your RRIF Information and Make Changes.

3. Analyzing Your Portfolio is Now Easier

A refreshed Portfolio Analyzer tool lets you group your accounts to give you a big-picture view of your overall asset mix to determine how you're diversified. Drill down to sector and regional exposures, or check your holdings to see where you might be concentrated. Plus, you no longer need to set a goal in order to use the analyze feature. Find the Portfolio Analyzer under My Portfolio, where you'll also find Create & Manage Account Groups.

4. Mobile Gets an Upgrade

Level 2 quotes2. More activity history. Margin excess visibility. Those are just a few of the new RBC Direct Investing features you'll find in the upgraded RBC Mobile app3. With the updated app, you can access free Level 2 quotes for TSX and TSX-Venture-listed securities, which means no more switching back to a desktop to find them. Active Traders with signed agreements can also access Level 2 quotes for NASDAQ-listed securities. You can also view your portfolio activity history for up to 15 months instead of just three months. Plus, margin excess now appears directly below the account balance section of the Account Details page. Head to the App Store or Google Play to upgrade to the latest version of the RBC Mobile app.

5. View & Edit Your Client Profile

We've made it easier for you to update some of your information online without having to call. To view and edit your client profile, you can click on "Edit Profile" at the top of your page, which will bring you to the "Edit RBC Direct Investing Profile" page. Once there, use the “Change your Client Profile" option to confirm and/or update personal and contact details as well as employment, financial, spousal and additional profile information. Reference the handy Edit Profile FAQs for more details.

Bonus: ETF, Mutual Fund and Stock Screeners All in One Place

Following the launch of our enhanced stock-screener tool at the end of 2020, you've now got improved screeners for exchange-traded funds (ETFs) and mutual funds. Plus, all are now accessible in one place with just a single click. The refreshed screeners make it easier to narrow your investment choices by choosing only criteria that's important to you. Find screeners under the Research tab online.

Check in regularly on our Navigators series to stay on top of what's new. It's shaping up to be another exciting year ahead.
