Navigators: Mobile Gets an Upgrade, New Ways to Analyze Your Portfolio

Written by The Inspired Investor Team | Published on November 23, 2021

Investing Academy. Knowledge Supports Success. Visit now.

We haven't shared an update in a while, but that doesn't mean we haven't been working hard on new initiatives to support your investing journey! Read on to find out what we've been up to.

Mobile Gets an Upgrade

Level 2 quotes1. More activity history. Margin excess visibility. Those are just a few of the new RBC Direct Investing features you'll find in the upgraded RBC Mobile app2. With the updated app, you can access free Level 2 quotes for TSX and TSX-Venture-listed securities, which means no more switching back to a desktop to find them. Active Traders with signed agreements can also access Level 2 quotes for NASDAQ-listed securities. You can also view your portfolio activity history for up to 15 months instead of just three months. Plus, margin excess now appears directly below the account balance section of the Account Details page. Head to the App Store or Google Play to upgrade to the latest version of the RBC Mobile app.

Portfolio Analyzer Now Has Group Feature

You asked, we added. We heard from you that it was important to be able to group your accounts to give you a big-picture view of your overall asset mix to determine how you're diversified. The new Account Groups button in the Portfolio Analyzer now allows you to do it! You can set up a group of accounts, then take a look at your exposure by country, industry sectors or individual securities. Plus, you'll also find a feature that lets you compare your portfolio's asset mix and risk/return to profiles created by RBC Global Asset Management (GAM), and to indices such as the S&P/TSX Composite, Dow Jones Industrial Average or S&P 500. Check out How to Analyze Your Investment Portfolio to learn more.

Quotes

Access to free real-time streaming quotes3 has expanded online! Now everyone can see stock and ETF quotes update automatically tick by tick with the market on your detailed quote page and in the Watchlist widget (the blue star on the upper right side of your page online). Use the streaming toggle to switch them ON.

More ETF Data on Your Holdings Page

A while back we added more information for Canadian and U.S. stocks on your Holdings page, including key stats, new links and additional data points. Now we've done the same for exchange-traded funds (ETFs) in your portfolio.

Once you select the Intraday and Settlement Currency views on your Holdings page, click on the “chevron" beside your security to expand your view to find the new inclusions.

In case you missed it…

New Trading Dashboard Rolls Out

You may have heard there's a new Trading Dashboard, but have you checked it out yet? Here's a quick list of tips and resources we've shared previously to get you started:

Note: The legacy Trading Dashboard will remain available for a limited time – both to give you time to get acquainted with the new one and to allow us to make a few more refinements.

Site navigation tips:

RRIF Management: For those of you with a Registered Retirement Income Fund (RRIF), you can view your minimum annual withdrawal requirement online, and also modify and manage your scheduled payments. Find out more in How to View Your RRIF Information and Make Changes.

U.S. Account side: You automatically have a U.S. dollar account side for each of your accounts (except for RESPs). Check out Your Guide to Trading in Canadian and U.S. Dollars to find out how having two sides to your account – a U.S. dollar side and a Canadian dollar side – benefits you.
