Navigators: RRIF Edit Feature, Value Analyzer Launch

Written by The Inspired Investor Team | Published on May 19, 2021

Investing Academy. Knowledge Supports Success. Visit now.

We've had a few new features spring up at RBC Direct Investing over the past couple of weeks and we're excited to tell you more about them here in our May edition of Navigators. Read on to find out about the new RRIF edit feature, our order status refresh, the new Value Analyzer tool, our unique Think of It Like This concept and how to find the insightful Morningstar Editorials research.

RRIF Management DIY Upgrade

For those of you with a Registered Retirement Income Fund (RRIF) at RBC Direct Investing, it's now easier to view and manage your own account online – fewer calls and messages required! In addition to being able to view your minimum annual withdrawal requirement online, you can now also modify and manage your scheduled payments online. Find out more in How to View Your RRIF Information and Make Changes.

Order Status Gets a Refresh

You may have noticed a new look and feel to your order status page online. The refresh offers a more intuitive design that makes it easier for you to track your trades. You can now:

  • Toggle between the new Activity and Order Status tabs to access all your information in one place
  • Check the status of multiple fills in a clean, aggregated view under each order ID
  • View partially executed orders as either “open" or “filled" – the label “part filled" has been removed
  • Find an “action" menu at the top of orders with an “open" status, allowing you to modify or cancel open orders
  • Export raw/filtered data (in cvs format) on the Order Status tab (similar to the Activity tab)
  • Expand each order card to show more details, including a quotes summary box for equities and options orders

New Tool Offers Value Investing Metrics

Looking for another tool to help you evaluate a stock's value? Check out the new Value Analyzer tab on your Detailed Quote page online. In addition to an informative value summary for your chosen security, you'll also find a forecasting feature under Project Value Chart that allows you to see how the fair value of a company changes based on shifting assumptions for earnings growth.

Investing Concepts Simplified: A New Series

Some investing concepts are easier to wrap our minds around than others. To help simplify some of the more complex ideas out there – think short squeeze and SPACs, for example – we've introduced a new series called Think of It Like This to give you a new way of thinking about some investing concepts. Bet you didn't know there was a way to relate lemonade to a short squeeze! Check out Think of It Like This: Investing Terms Explained to find out more.

Coming soon...

We're still working hard to update the Portfolio Analyzer tool to include Account Groups – and we hope to have it rolled out in the next couple of months. We know it's important to you and we appreciate your patience while we finalize the remaining details.

In case you missed it…

One Stop for ETF, Mutual Funds and Stock Screeners

With a single click, you can access screeners for stocks, exchange-traded funds (ETFs) and mutual funds in one place online. Under Research, click on any of the three screeners to reach the homepage, where you'll find separate tabs for each security type.

Site navigation tip:

Morningstar Editorials, which feature independent insights and analysis to help you make informed investing decisions, can now be found in Market Commentary under the Research tab online.
