Navigators: Dig In to Learn More About Investments You're Interested In

Written by The Inspired Investor Team | Published on April 19, 2021

Investing Academy. Knowledge Supports Success. Visit now.

For our April edition of Navigators, we're focusing on a popular spring pastime for many: digging in. Our inspiration is the warmer temperatures that have many of us heading for the garden, but we'll be focusing on features that can help you “dig in" to research investments you're interested in.

Research Already at Your Fingertips

Research resources you can explore.

Before we look at what's to come, let's cover a bit about what you've already got online at RBC Direct Investing to help you research. Here are a few of our top resources to explore:

  1. Investor's Toolkit – Sticking with our theme, consider this your garden shed. It's where you'll find some of our most popular tools and resources – screeners for stocks, exchange-traded funds and mutual funds, analyst pick lists and ratings, research reports, videos and more. Find Investor's Toolkit under the Research tab.
  2. Markets & Trends – Also found under the Research tab, in Markets & Trends you'll be able to get a handle on how the markets are doing overall, dig into sectors and industries, find the day's market movers and scan the latest news and headlines.
  3. Detailed Quote – For most investors, this is one of the first stops to find out more about a security. Search for a quote by entering a symbol or keyword in the search box on any page, then explore the overview page you land on, or dig deeper into technical and fundamental research, news and more.
  4. Investing Academy – Part of our Inspired Investor magazine, Investing Academy is where you'll find answers to many of your investing-specific questions, plus a series of investing guides on topics like investing in stocksoptions and naming beneficiaries.

Coming soon…

We've got two “coming soon" features to let you in on this month.

First, you'll soon see a tab called Value Analyzer on your Detailed Quote page online. This new tool will give you a concise view of key information to help evaluate a stock's value. Plus, the Value Analyzer's forecasting feature will let you see how the fair value of a company changes based on shifting assumptions for earnings growth. Look for the new tool between the Fundamentals and Financials tab on your Detailed Quote page soon.

Next, we've got one more hint about the upcoming feature we'll soon be ready to unveil. This time we'll leave you with just a visual.

Someone adjusting their car dashboard

(And no, it's not a new car, but as we've mentioned before, it will put the controls at your fingertips to monitor and analyze securities your way to help you find your next investment idea and execute on it.) Stay tuned!

In case you missed it…

Technical Analysis Upgrade

Explore the new technical analysis features recently added online to help inform your investing decisions. You can find Technical Insights through the Technicals tab in a detailed quote and under the Research tab in the main site menu.

With the personal tax filing deadline approaching, you may still need some tax-related information. Check the Investing & Tax Season Centre for important dates and key information.
