What You'll Find in a Detailed Quote

A detailed quote is a great place to start your research since it offers a wealth of information all in one place. You can find a detailed quote by searching a symbol or keyword in the search box on the top right corner of any page on the RBC Direct Investing platform. Here's a quick guide on a few key tabs and data points to help you with your analysis.

The Overview tab is your first stop. Depending on the type of security you're researching, it's here that you'll find:

  • Bid and ask
  • Market cap
  • Beta
  • Dividend yield
  • Volume
  • 52 week high/low
  • Performance charts
  • Industry peer comparison
  • News
  • Analyst research and ratings
  • Sector holdings (ETFs and mutual funds)

For stocks, the Fundamentals tab provides you with key measures and ratios that fundamental analysts use to determine the financial health of a company. You'll also find a meaningful comparison of industry peers. Look for:

  • Price/Earnings ratio (P/E ratio)
  • Price/Book ratio (P/B ratio)
  • Return on Equity (ROE)
  • Earnings-per-share (EPS) growth
  • Net profit margin

You can visit the Research tab of a detailed quote for third-party analysis from Morningstar‡ (for companies covered).

If you like to crunch numbers, the Financials tab gives you access to a company's income statements, balance sheets and cash flow statements. You'll find data for up to four years.

Also worth a look is the Technicals tab, where you'll find third-party technical analysis.
