How to Manage an Order

Once you've placed an order, you can check its status under Trade & Transfer on the RBC Direct Investing site menu. Look for Look for View Order Status under Transactions. Here, you can also cancel or modify an order if it has not yet been filled. Have a question? Check the Order Status FAQs on the View Order Status page for answers to common questions.

What You'll Find on Your Holdings Page

On your holdings page, you will get an overview of all the assets in your RBC Direct Investing account, including any cash balance, in both Canadian and U.S. dollars. You will also see your book cost, unrealized gain/loss and more. Learn what's what in investing term glossary the Investor's Toolkit.

Watchlists: What They Are and What They Can Do for You

You can keep an eye on a security, like a stock or Exchange-Traded Fund (ETF), you've already invested in or ones you want to learn more about by setting up a watchlist. Watchlists offer a simple way to follow a company's stock performance, financial results, news releases, media mentions and analyst ratings, all in one convenient location. Plus, watchlists offer real-time streaming1 quotes so you can see prices change automatically, tick by tick with the market.

You can view and add to your watchlist by clicking the blue star at the top right corner found on every page of the site.

How to Receive Trading Activity Notifications

Receive status updates on your buy or sell orders right in your inbox by opting in for email notifications. Select View Profile & Account Settings under the Person icon, look for Email Address and Preferences, and then check the “Trading Activity and Reminders" box. If you've set a price alert for a stock or ETF you've been following (look for the bell icon under last trade on your detailed quote page), you'll want to select the "My Alerts" box too to get your timely alert notice related to price changes or news.
