Thank you for choosing us for your self-directed investing journey! We’ve gathered tips, videos and articles below to help you get started with your new RBC Direct Investing account.
1. Signing in with your client card number
For RBC Royal Bank® Online Banking clients
If you are an RBC Royal Bank Online Banking client and have provided us with your client card number, there are three ways to access your RBC Direct Investing account, using the same client card number and password:
- From the Account Summary page in RBC Online Banking, scroll down to the Investments section and select the account you want to view.
- Sign in directly through the RBC Direct Investing sign-in page (select the "Sign in" button from the top of the page at rbcdirectinvesting.com)
- Open or download the RBC Mobile1 app and sign in using your RBC client card number, then select the RBC Direct Investing tab from the home screen
For clients without an RBC Royal Bank account
If you don’t have an RBC Royal Bank client card, you will receive an RBC Direct Investing client card in the mail shortly so that you can sign in directly to the secure online investing site.
2. Sign up for notifications
Email notifications and alerts put you in control of information that can help add convenience to managing your investments, and keep you updated about your accounts. You can control the categories you are signed up for, depending on your preferences.
Visit the Manage Notifications page under the My Portfolio menu to choose the types of notifications you'd like to receive, or update your email address. If you choose not to receive any notifications, you will still get important updates on the operation and maintenance of your account through email.
Important: As a securities dealer, we're required to have a current mailing address on file for all clients. If your mailing address changes, please visit Edit Profile & Preferences and select “Change Your Client Profile” to update it right away. This helps ensure that you can always access your account and never miss important written information like proxies and other notices.

Learn how to put money into your account by transferring cash or securities, or by redeeming RBC Rewards for cash contributions in your account.
