How to Complete a Foreign Exchange

We offer a convenient real-time foreign exchange feature. To complete a foreign exchange, follow the below steps:

  1. Set Up the foreign exchange transfer
    1. Visit the Transfer Cash and Foreign Exchange page under the My Portfolio section of the menu
    2. Select the account and currency you wish to transfer from
    3. Select the account and currency you wish to transfer to
    4. Enter the amount you wish to exchange and the currency of the amount
    5. Enter a contact telephone number
    6. Once all information is accurate, click Continue
  2. Confirm transaction
    1. Review all information on the page to confirm accuracy and read any important notices
    2. The page will show the exchange rate, as well as the amount to transfer
    3. If all information is correct, click Confirm
  3. Complete your transfer
    1. The Transaction Complete page will appear once the foreign exchange has been submitted
    2. Record the Order ID Number in your records

Note: Real time exchange rates are available during foreign exchange hours (approx. 7:45 a.m. to 4:45 p.m. EST on Canadian and US business days). Transactions placed outside these hours or on weekends/holidays will be pending for the next business day. Please note that for pending transactions, the displayed foreign exchange is an indication only, the actual conversion value will be determined once the transaction is booked and can be viewed on the Transfer History tab on the Transfer Cash page or on the Activity History page.
