We’re introducing new email notifications and alerts designed to make your investing experience more convenient than ever. As an RBC Direct Investing client, you will continue to receive Personal and Account Operations emails when there is important information about the operation and maintenance of your account(s).

These new, optional emails put you in control of information that can help keep you informed, aware and inspired – so you’re always in the know.

What Kinds of Emails Can I Receive?

Notifications help add convenience to managing your investments, and keep you updated about your accounts. You can control the categories you are signed up for, depending on your preferences.

Emails About Your Orders, Holdings and Accounts

• Trading Activity and Reminders. We send status updates for your equity, options and ETF buy and sell orders. Depending on your holdings, you may also receive fixed-income maturity and option expiry reminders.
• My Alerts. Timely information, tailored to your specific accounts and holdings. These alerts will change over time, and are based on your account activity and personal situation.
• Dividends and Stock Splits. Get information on dividend announcements, payment dates and stock splits for stocks in your portfolio.
• eDocuments. We’ll email you when you have an electronic document (such as a tax document) available to be viewed, saved, or printed.

Market and IPO Alerts

• Stock and Market Alerts. Find out about stock and market changes that meet your criteria. You can set up alerts for the largest percent gainers (or losers) on the TSX, or when the TSX reaches a high/low point, at market open, midday or market close. You can also receive an email when a company you’re following reaches a specific price, announces earnings or dividends, or exceeds its average daily trading volume.
• IPO Alerts. Be the first to know about new issues and place expressions of interest.

How Do I Manage and Update My Notifications Preferences?

Visit the Manage Notifications page under the My Portfolio menu to choose the types of notifications you'd like to receive, or update your email address. Note that if you choose not to receive any notifications, you will still get important updates on the maintenance of your account through email.
