RBC Direct Investing clients can receive account statements, tax documents, trade confirmations and required offering documents electronically.

eDocuments look the same as paper documents, but are sent securely through the online investing site.

What are the benefits of receiving documents electronically? For starters, they arrive sooner than your paper documents and they're environmentally friendly. Plus, they're accessible 24/7 and you can view, print and/or save them anytime you like.

Keep in mind: In most cases you won't receive any tax slips for your Tax Free Savings Account (TFSA).

How?

Setting your eDocument preferences takes just a few clicks.

From the My Portfolio tab:

  • Select View & Manage Documents
  • Click the Manage Documents tab
  • In the Change Document Option column, click All Electronic to switch to electronic delivery for all your accounts, or make individual selections for each document type (Tip: Not sure about your choices? Look for the Document Options FAQs to find out more.)
  • Click Continue to review the Legal Terms and Conditions, which you must agree to.
  • If you agree, select Submit to confirm your changes and receive a Confirmation.

Where to view

Again, under the My Portfolio tab:

  • Select View & Manage Documents
  • Click the View eDocuments tab and follow the instructions under Search eDocuments

When you've got a new eDocument available, you'll get a secure message to your Message Centre. If you've opted to receive email notifications, you'll also get an email to the address on file. You can check your notification preferences under My Portfolio > Manage Notifications.
